The SNU Conference 2025 welcomes Robyn Gobbel and Marti Smith!

Robyn and Marti are world-leading experts in their fields. Both have extensive experience in applying relational neuroscience and sensory-motor regulation to support children and adolescents with significant behavioral expressions. Day 1 – September 22, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM: Children with Intense Emotional Outbursts – Keynote Sessions

Day 2 - 23. sept 09 AM-16 PM: Workshop – From Insight to Action

(Note: Participation in the workshop requires attendance on Day 1.)

Day 2 offers a deep dive into practical methods and techniques for supporting children struggling with behavioral challenges and heightened stress responses. Robyn and Marti will guide participants through hands-on exercises and provide tools applicable to everyday practice.

Topics include:

  • Co-regulation and Stress Reduction: Learn techniques to help downregulate an overactive stress response system in children and how co-regulation between children and adults can alleviate stress for both parties.

  • Creative Regulation Strategies: Marti will demonstrate how movement, play, and sensory-based activities can help children achieve balance and safely express emotions.

  • Case Studies and Practical Reflection: Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on how to implement these techniques in their daily work.

Meet the Presenters:

Robyn Gobbel – Expert in Relational Neuroscience and Practical Co-Regulation

Robyn Gobbel has nearly 20 years of experience as a therapist specializing in relational neuroscience, attachment, and behavior regulation in children. She has worked closely with families and children experiencing significant emotional challenges, and is renowned for translating complex brain research into practical, everyday tools.

Robyn is also the founder of The Club, a global learning community for parents and professionals seeking strategies to support children with sensitized stress response systems and behavioral challenges. She is a highly sought-after speaker, known for her engaging presentations that seamlessly integrate humor, science, and deep human insight.

Robyn is the author of the bestselling book "Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors", which has sold over 25,000 copies. She also hosts the popular podcast "The Baffling Behavior Show", where she shares her expertise on children's behavior and emotional development.

Through her work, Robyn promotes a compassionate, neuroscience-informed approach to parenting and child development, emphasizing relationships and co-regulation as central components.


Marti Smith – Expert in Clinical Applications of Relational and Sensory-Motor Regulation

Marti Smith, OTR/L, is an internationally recognized occupational therapist specializing in sensory integration through the lens of relational neuroscience. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with Dr. Bruce Perry to educate professionals and organizations on how stress affects children’s sensory systems.

She is renowned for her innovative and practical approach to supporting children with sensitized stress response systems and regulation difficulties.

Marti is the author of "The Connected Therapist: Relating Through the Senses" and "Sensory Healing After Developmental Trauma", which provide professionals and caregivers with tools to understand and assist children facing sensory challenges. The latter book focuses specifically on how sensory integration can help children with trauma histories find calm and balance in everyday life.

She is also the creator of the KALMAR assessment tool, which offers tailored activity recommendations based on children’s behaviors.

At Simple Sparrow Care Farm in Texas, Marti offers animal- and nature-assisted therapy for children and adults. She is known for integrating creativity, movement, and sensory-based techniques to promote healing and growth in individuals with diverse needs.
